Forage

Austrian record producer and songwriter Forage blends elements of Pop, Indie-Rock, Hip-Hop and R&B into a sound shaped by rhythm, sampling and live instrumentation. Born Fabian Aufinger and raised in the small village of Bad Häring, he began playing guitar at seven and was writing his own pieces by nine. After discovering music production through a friend, he started producing at eleven in 2017 and launched the Forage project two years later. What began largely inside a DAW gradually developed into a more hands-on approach to making records. Songwriting became a central part of his work, with an Akai MPC emerging as his main compositional instrument and the starting point for many of his productions. From there, ideas move between sampling, guitars, keys, synths and vocals, bringing songwriting, performance and production into one creative process rather than seperate stages. His influences include Jon Bellion, Tame Impala and Band of Horses. In 2026, Forage released his debut album FĪOR together with Swiss artist Ruben Arthur, a record moving between pop, hip-hop and indie-rock while introducing a more mature and organic side to his production. The album’s first two singles both reached No. 1 on the Austrian iTunes charts. The name Forage comes from the idea of searching and discovering, a philosophy that has remained at the center of the project since its beginning. Following FĪOR, that search continues as Forage takes on another part of the process himself: vocals.
