AVIDITAS

Born in the early 1970s near Stuttgart, Germany, in a beautiful rural area surrounded by friends, animals, and wide-open freedom, Matt grew up as a dreamer — both thoughtful and wild, quiet and loud in equal measure. From an early age, music became his constant companion; he took piano and guitar lessons before forming his first school band, playing bass and singing. Drawn to the extremes of sound and emotion, he has always felt at home in music that is fast and aggressive as well as in the dark and melancholic. His artistic instincts seem shaped by the spirit of his homeland — a rugged, once-devastated landscape where witch trials and war left deep cultural scars. Yet despite (or perhaps because of) that heritage, he remains a cheerful and kind soul with a sharp sense of black humor and an unshakable love for life’s strange contrasts. AVIDITAS is the darker side of Matt — a slow, melancholic journey through ghostly soundscapes and emotional depths. Like his punk project ANGRY FREAK, Matt handles everything himself: writing, performing, recording, mixing, and mastering every song. The music drifts between heavy, atmospheric melancholy and subtly morbid moods, blending haunting melodies with raw and heartfelt emotion. Consider yourself warned — even ghosts might get goosebumps.
