Biography & Metadata
Electronic worlds, made physical. RIŽIK is the artist project of composer and live performer Hisham Dahud, exploring the relationship between body, instrument, machine, and space. Moving between atmospheric electronica, techno, acoustic piano, live drums, and cinematic composition, RIŽIK approaches music as something to be played, inhabited, and experienced — not simply programmed or reproduced. That philosophy manifests through three distinct live worlds. TAME THE MACHINE is a fully live electronic performance built around hardware, improvisation, musicianship, and risk. No DJ set. No backing tracks. Music is built and reshaped in real time through human interaction with the machines. MAKĀN (مكان — “place”) is site-responsive composition and performance, creating music in dialogue with architecture, artwork, acoustics, landscape, history, and atmosphere — allowing the space itself to become part of the score. SOLŌ returns RIŽIK to the instrument at the foundation of his work: the piano. Original compositions are stripped to their most elemental form — artist, instrument, and room. Whether behind a synthesizer, drum kit, or acoustic piano, the question remains the same: What happens when music becomes physical again? Before launching RIŽIK, Dahud spent more than a decade behind the scenes working with artists including Richie Hawtin, Junkie XL, and DJ Shadow , alongside work in film composition and artist development.
