Lucien Kimono

When asked “what style of music do you make?”, Lucien Kimono still doesn’t know what to say. Pop? Jazz-funk? Chanson française? French Touch? Probably all of them at once — filtered through a personal lens of cinematic nostalgia and groove-heavy elegance. After a string of acclaimed EPs as Lucien & The Kimono Orchestra (Cracki Records), numerous collaborations (Folamour Jimmy Whoo, Moodoïd, Lord Apex, Ian Isiah, NxxxxxS, Mézigue…), a solo piano album and millions of streams, Lucien reinvented himself as Lucien Kimono, with 1000 VIES: a more personal, fully French-sung project, released on Avancée, his own label. In 2023, he released Bardenas Bardenas, a hispanic-influenced EP illustrated by a 42-minute road-movie shot in the desert with Simon Depardon. In 2024, he composed the full score for Amours Solitaires (Lonely Lovers), an Arte/France TV series. Now in 2025, Lucien returns with 7 YEARS — a bold new EP blending French Touch, modern club energy and pop songwriting. In partnership with Microqlima, the project features Dylan from Please (who recently opened for Justice) and unfolds through a retro-futuristic anime saga starring Mazaki, a heartbroken virtual musician. The first singles, ERA and We Could Go On and On, are already receiving warm support and playlisting from Spotify (Fresh Touch). Lucien is currently finalizing the soundtrack for a French-American documentary on the contemporary art world — another step into his growing career in film scoring.
