JO BISSA The alter ego of Job André de la Porte kicked off in 2019 although his musical career has been ongoing for 15 years. During this time Job established himself as Co-founder of the label INI Movement and part of the internationally acclaimed duo UMOJA. UMOJA is the foundation where Job learned the art of djing playing the last 5 years in festivals and clubs in across Europe & Africa. Sharing stages with Quantic, Clap Clap, Jeremy Sole, Boddhi Stava and doing collaborative projects with Nicola Cruz & Nickodemus Job discovered his love for African music & culture through musical explorations and long nights of digging. This strong affiliation with African music led him to several trips in the past 3 years, spending time recording music and playing gigs in the Kenyan & Ugandan nightlife and festivals. Haarlem, a small city in The Netherlands was the backdrop for Job where Jazz, soul & classical music was playing in the living room during his childhood. Later, he got familiar with the golden era of hiphop in which he recognised his musical foundation transformed into a new sound. Inspired by producers like Madlib, Timberland, Jay Dee & Dj Premier he found his way into beat making and music production. In his early days Job started out mainly sampling, this evolved into writing original compositions and using his own recordings.
