Departure

Departure is a Colombian artist based in London, known for crafting songs that fuse personal narrative with meticulously layered beats. His sound occupies the space between future garage, downtempo, and cinematic electronica, infused with the distinct rhythmic textures of South American traditions like cumbia and bullerengue. Rooted in the ambient soundscapes of producers like Burial and il:lo, Departure builds his tracks from a foundation of deep electronic texture. The journey of his sound often leads to the melodic pulse and emotional house music of artists such as Bicep, Barry Can't Swim, and Sofia Kourtesis. For fans of the genre's pioneers, the influence of Bonobo, Four Tet, and fellow Colombian artist Montoya is woven into every beat.
