Biography & Metadata

When I was 11 I wrote my first song with a simple message: “If you pretend to be a snake for long enough, you would eventually become a snake.” This summit of self-determination ended up being quite ironic considering the music I would write later. After being diagnosed with a bipolar disorder at 19, I lived according to the thrashing randomness of chronic disease. I failed out of school. I was hospitalized. All of my plans and my entire identity dissolved. They were replaced with things I hated. My body was not mine, my thoughts were not mine, my life was not mine. Agony was always. The only thing I looked forward to was sleep, which only came after I begged it for hours, sometimes days. Life paraded like seaweed churning against a cliff. I wrote an album called Sewing Kit. It is hopeless and desolate. There are moments of real love. Those were the moments that kept me alive. I wrote an album called Needle and Thread. It was years after Sewing Kit. I had learned so much. There are streaks and glimmers of hope in that album. Doin’ Well tells my story. I wrote an album called Cloth. There are beams of hope. It is the sunrise on eternal night. It has fun, and love, and pain, and uncertainty. In 2025 I travelled more miles than the circumference of this earth. I did so to sing to people who wanted to hear me. I went across North America. I went across Europe. To know things about me, including tour, please consider visiting rolandfaunte.com Thank you.
