Biography & Metadata

Ntate Stunna, born Thaabe Letsie in Maseru, Lesotho, is an award-winning singer, songwriter, and one of Southern Africa's most influential contemporary artists. Blending Sesotho storytelling with Afro-pop, Amapiano, and gospel-inspired melodies, he has become a global ambassador for Basotho culture through music that is both rooted in tradition and universally resonant. He first emerged as a teenager with the 2014 single "Mookho," but his defining breakthrough came in 2022 with "Stimela," a sweeping anthem that amassed tens of millions of views and earned him Record of the Year and Music Video of the Year at the 29th South African Music Awards (SAMAs). The song introduced millions to the richness of Sesotho-language music and established Ntate Stunna as one of Africa's leading voices. Writing and composing primarily in Sesotho, Ntate Stunna seamlessly weaves Basotho proverbs, praise poetry, and cultural heritage into contemporary African production. His music bridges generations, creating an authentic sound that celebrates identity while connecting with audiences across Africa and beyond. Outside of music, he is the founder of Sesotho Fashioneng, a heritage luxury brand that champions Basotho culture through fashion, film, and visual storytelling. Whether on stage, in the studio, or through his creative ventures, Ntate Stunna continues to redefine how Lesotho is represented on the global stage, proving that authentic African stories have the power to resonate worldwide.
