Nicko Journey

Born in Maputo, Mozambique, NickoJOURNEY has been a staple in the local upcoming scene. A versatile rapper/singer, his eclectic taste and multi-genre sound has separated him from his peers, establishing him as one of Mozambique's next musical exports. With unmatched charisma and lyrical depth, his music is as complex as it is functional; shedding light on the mindset of this young rapper/singer. A love for writing (from poetry) led to him pursuing music as a career. At 19, his sophomore year in Business at local college ISCTEM, he was performing in cultural houses like the Centre Culturel Franco-Mozambicain à Maputo (The French Cultural Centre in Maputo) and the Centro Cultural Brasileiro em Maputo (The Brasilian Cultural Centre) as part of collaborative projects with fellow performance artists such as Os Continuadores (Tiago Correia-Paulo of 340ml fame & Trkz), Iron Br11, $orr¥ and art collective The Other Room. After a 4 year stint in San Francisco exploring his artistic interests, he returned to his home country with a renewed sense of identity.
