Biography & Metadata

Lahar is a singer, songwriter, and producer based in Atlanta. He grew up in Bangalore, where he spent after-school hours writing songs and playing drums in a band with friends. He moved to Atlanta in 2014 for college, hoping to study music formally. When his self-taught background made that path difficult, he pursued journalism instead, teaching himself production on the side. He spent much of his time after class teaching himself how to produce music on headphones at the university library. After graduating, Lahar worked in TV news, quietly building songs like "Bad at Getting Over It" and "Needed You (More Than You Needed Me)" during downtime in the newsroom. He left the industry in 2024 to commit to music full-time. Everything changed in 2022, when he began writing with Aaron Pace. Their first song together, "I Would Die," gained early traction before their sophomore collaboration, "do u think about me?," became his breakout after Korean dating show Heart Signal featured it on air, bringing a wave of new fans from Korea and beyond. Since then, Lahar has built a catalog that includes collaborations with Crash ("Conversations Over Breakfast") and Polar ("oh my") crossing 18M+ streams and 9.3M listeners by 2025, all independently. His influences include LANY, LAUV, and The 1975. His debut album is next. Lead single "Edges" is out now, the start of a world for anyone carving their own path through uncertainty, without a clear map ahead.
