Biography & Metadata

Orange & Lemons is a Filipino indie pop/alternative rock band formed in 1999 by singer-songwriter/guitarist Clem Castro with drummer Ace Del Mundo and bassist JM Del Mundo. Former member Mcoy Fundales served as second vocalist from the band’s formation until its first breakup in 2007. The group’s sound blends alternative rock, indie pop, and experimental music, influenced by bands such as The Smiths, The Beatles, and the Eraserheads. The band released several albums and achieved commercial success with their sophomore album, Strike Whilst the Iron Is Hot (2005), which reached double platinum status. Their final album before the hiatus, Moonlane Gardens, was named Album of the Year at the 2007 NU Rock Awards. The band parted ways in 2007 due to musical differences. In July 2017, after a decade-long hiatus, they reunited and resumed recording and performing. In 2018, they marked the 15th anniversary of their debut album with an updated edition of Love in the Land of Rubber Shoes & Dirty Ice Cream. Today, Orange & Lemons continues as a four-piece, with Clem Castro, Ace Del Mundo, JM Del Mundo, and Jared Nerona as its official lineup. Nerona’s keyboards and arrangements are now central to the band’s sound, most notably on their critically acclaimed Tagalog album La Bulaqueña (2022), marking a bold expansion of their musical identity.
