Formed in New Zealand and based in Nashville TN, award-winning duo South for Winter’s sound is as eclectic as their origins. The act is composed of Dani Cichon (USA) and Nick Stone (NZ), and together the two multi-instrumentalists and songwriters combine haunting harmonies, finger-style guitar, storytelling lyrics, foot percussion, mandolin, and more into a genre-bending sound often compared to acts like The Crane Wives, The Civil Wars, The Dead South, Poor Man's Poison, and Goodnight, Texas. South for Winter recorded their debut album, Luxumbra, and sophomore concept album, Of Sea and Sky, with multi GRAMMY award-winning producer Matt Leigh (Willie Nelson, Sister Sadie). These releases, alongside their head-turning live performance, have landed them accolades such as Winner of IAP's Album of the Year, Finalist in the International Songwriting and IAMA contests, Semi-Finalist in the American Songwriter Contest, and Official Artist at SXSW. Their music has been praised by sites such as American Songwriter ("impeccable sound"), No Depression ("must-see artist"), and AmericanaUK ("a journey well-worth taking"). Music written and produced by the members has been featured on Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Peacock. Between recording albums, the act has toured relentlessly, bringing audiences to their feet across Europe, New Zealand, and North America. They have performed on stages alongside artists like Seth Walker, Rainbow Girls, The Accidentals, and The Arcadian Wild.
