Biography & Metadata
North West London artist Abby Power has been making music since 2010. Inspired by Def Jam poetry slams, she moved from poetry to songwriting, drawing influence from the likes of Ms. Lauryn Hill & Mos Def. After a five-year hiatus, Abby returned in 2020. Her EPs Home Is Where the Start Is and Class of ’94 both reached #1 on Amazon UK’s Rap & Hip-Hop charts. Collaborative EP Influenced also reached #1 on Amazon UK’s Rap & Hip-Hop New Releases chart, while R&B project Protostar debuted at #1 on Amazon UK’s Best Selling R&B chart. Her catalogue has surpassed 60,000 Spotify streams and 200,000 Apple Music streams, with airplay on more than 25 radio shows and stations, including BBC Introducing London and BBC Radio London. In 2026, Abby enters her most personal chapter with What The Fire Couldn’t Take. Made from released and unreleased songs written before her cancer diagnosis, the music took on an entirely new meaning during treatment. Producer and engineer SamXVI curated the project and presented it to Abby shortly before surgery , songs written by a past version of herself becoming the soundtrack she needed in the present. “SamXVI saw a story in my music before I saw it myself, and handed it back to me at exactly the right moment.” What The Fire Couldn’t Take is about perseverance, faith and finding light after darkness, music written before the fire, waiting for her on the other side.
