Derendorfer Salonorchester

Founded in 2016 by band leader and drummer Daniel Rheinbay, Derendorfer Salonorchester, an 18 piece Jazz ensemble, closes the gap between traditional big band music and modern pop- and jazz-styles. The band consists of young musicians from the area around Düsseldorf, every member contributes his/her own style and origin of music. The result is a refreshing brew of glamorous swing sound, contemporary groove music, and even modern symphonic approaches. Its biggest project to date: Stadtrausch. For this, the band merged with a symphonic orchestra to form a 60 piece ensemble to perform a 45 minute narrative piece of music, written by Daniel Rheinbay. The whole production can also be enjoyed on YouTube as part of a documentary by Jonas Scheler.
