Scott Kinsey

Scott Kinsey is a keyboardist, composer, producer, and sonic explorer whose music exists at the intersection of jazz fusion, electronic experimentation, funk, and global rhythms. Best known for his 21 years with the legendary fusion group Tribal Tech, Kinsey has spent his career pushing beyond musical conventions, creating a sound defined by fearless improvisation, deep grooves, otherworldly synthesizer textures, and an unmistakable musical personality. A protégé and close musical associate of Joe Zawinul, the visionary force behind Weather Report, Kinsey absorbed Zawinul’s philosophy of sound, spontaneity, and musical freedom while developing a voice distinctly his own. His musical universe has included collaborations with Scott Henderson, Michael Landau, Tim Lefebvre, Gary Novak, Arto Tuncboyaciyan, and numerous other groundbreaking artists. His forthcoming album, Thought Distortions, takes that exploration further, blurring the boundaries between composition and improvisation, acoustic and electronic sound, and musical traditions from around the world. From international stages to his ongoing Kinsey Sessions in Los Angeles, Kinsey continues to pursue music that refuses to stand still.
