In his music, Thomas David Lula, a retired police officer and emergency medical technician with 36 plus years of experience, captures a series of lived experiences, echoing the voices of those fighting for survival in difficult worlds. His songs, “Built To Bend,” “Superwoman - No Cape,” “Best Mom,” and “Strongest Of All” are relatable songs to many women that are struggling to raise children on their own and with very little support from others. His song “Growing Older” is a reflective, uplifting song about aging as a privilege rather than something to fear. It acknowledges the visible realities of getting older—the wrinkles, gray hair, scars, and changes in the mirror—but argues that those things tell only part of the story. At the heart of the song is a powerful idea: the body grows older, but the heart doesn’t age in the same way. The heart still remembers first love, dreams, heartbreak, joy, and all the experiences that made us who we are.
