Everything But The Girl

Everything But The Girl - aka EBTG - was formed in 1982 by Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt. Their debut single was a stark jazz-folk cover of Cole Porter's Night and Day. Acclaimed for their lyrics, Thorn’s unique voice and Watt’s arrangements, they released five UK gold albums from 1984-1990. After Ben’s near death from a rare auto-immune disease in 1992, the pair returned with the million-selling Amplified Heart (1994), including their biggest hit, Missing (Todd Terry Remix) (#2, US Hot 100; # 3 UK Top 40; #1, Germany, Italy, Canada). It was followed by the ground-breaking electronica of Walking Wounded (1996, #4 UK Album Chart). With four UK Top 40 hits it became their first UK platinum album, selling over 2 million copies worldwide. The duo paused on a high in 2000. Tracey focused on family life before returning with a run of four solo albums and four best-selling memoirs. Ben moved into DJing and remixing, and founded the award-winning electronic label, Buzzin' Fly. He returned to his singer-songwriter roots with a trilogy of acclaimed solo albums, 2014-2020. In April 2023 the pair unexpectedly returned with sharply-lit electronica of Fuse, their highest ever charting album (#3 UK Album Chart), winning them Self-Producing Artist of the Year at the MPG (Music Producer’s Guild) Awards 2024. Their latest album, Blue Reservoir - a return to their earliest influences - is released on Feb 19 2027.
