Biography & Metadata

YesterKid is a father-son duo comprised of vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Samuel Sheppard, and his father, pianist and lyricist Jonathon Egan. YesterKid was born as an essential creative outlet after Sam’s band, Roseburg was forced to cancel a national tour due to the pandemic. Sam and Jonathon wrote together weekly over Zoom from California and Utah. By early 2021, Sam’s Roseburg bandmate and longtime friend, Zach Knell, was brought in as producer and co-writer on what had become a full-length album. The other members of Roseburg - Keith Lambson (Dryggs) and Soren Buchert - also participated as co-writers and instrumentalists. Final mixing by Scott Wiley (The Killers, Neon Trees) and Jed Jones (Post Malone, IDKHOW) wrapped the project.   Now, rising from the strangeness of isolation and lockdown, YesterKid is ready to remind you what it means to be human. That strange something that feels like it might break when you listen to YesterKid? That’s your heart. That familiar sensation you know you recognize from somewhere when you listen to YesterKid? That’s called hope. Welcome back.   “Upper East of Heaven” from the upcoming album "Ultrasound" is out now!
