Biography & Metadata

(Hear how "Making All Things New" started: aaronespe.com/matn) WHAT I'M REALLY LIKE: Truth is, most days you'll find me being a dad to four boys (Silas 14, August 11, Lorentz 8, and Magnus 6) and a husband to an amazing woman named Heidi. We live in a red brick house in Nashville, Tennessee. In the summers, we grow a huge garden. Every Friday, we eat a lot of Little Caesars pizza. I was an English major in college, but I'm still two Spanish courses short of my degree. (Read that sentence again if you missed the irony the first time.) I dropped out in 2004 to try to "make it" in music. I gigged from LA to Lewiston, Maine, selling CDs out of the back on my Honda Accord. I grew up in stoic northern Minnesota, so the Midwesterner in me doesn't love to admit this, but I've had a longstanding battle with anxiety and depression. In 2009, mine got really bad. I'll forever be grateful to my first therapist and psychiatrist for helping me break through the mental illness myths I'd believed for so long. Around that same time, I realized I needed to completely rethink my music career. It wasn't until Heidi and I moved to Nashville that I found my stride as a singer-songwriter and producer, eventually signing with a publisher here. In 2018, I started writing a weekly newsletter called "3 on Thursday." Each week I share music, stories, thoughts on creativity, life with four boys, and whatever else captures my curiosity. I'd love to have you join us at aaronespe.com. Love, Aaron
