Bag End Ensemble

Bag End Ensemble is a project by Swedish composer and pianist Johannes Johansson. Classically trained on the piano from the age of 11, Johannes uses the Bag End Ensemble to explore the music and atmosphere of The Lord of the Rings. The piano remains at the heart of many of the arrangements, surrounded by soft strings, gentle orchestration, and occasional folk-inspired elements that reflect the warmth and sense of adventure found throughout the original soundtracks. Rather than recreating the pieces on a grand cinematic scale, Bag End Ensemble approaches them from a more intimate perspective — keeping the melodies recognizable while giving them a softer, more personal character.
