Pako Marckx

Pako Marckx learned early on that the best way for him to express himself was through music. These days, the Belgian-based mainstay has perfected that art as a DJ and producer who connects with his ravers on a truly meaningful level. Whether laying down potent, eclectic blends of rave techno, acid, psytrance or something in between, he likes to be up close and personal with his crowd so he can tease them, please them, touch their soul or get them into a trance that takes them out of the here and now. Pako now sits at the forefront of the hard techno scene and is a regular in the world's most cultured clubs. Fabrik in Spain, Nexus in France and Fuse and Tomorrowland in Belgium are the sort of places he makes his mark. "I like to experience the rave as if I was in the crowd," he says of his driving, high-energy sets. Each one is a story with an underlying groove that keeps the crowd locked in, but always has plenty of variety in mood, texture and tempo to keep people on their toes and unknowing where they will be taken next. Pako is half-Korean and half-Belgian and is the son of a Korean adoptee who reconnected with his extended family thanks to a Korean TV show. It's an extraordinary story which mirrors his own life in techno as he continues to make ever-deeper bonds with ravers all over the world.
