Buildings and Food

Jen K. Wilson, aka Buildings and Food, is an independent Canadian electronic music recording artist. Her recent work incorporates experimental electronic, ambient and IDM. A classically trained pianist, visual artist and self-taught multi-instrumentalist, Jen began her career in Toronto playing guitar, keys and drums with various alternative indie rock outfits. She released her debut solo electronic album Quick Beat Save in 2018 under the name Buildings and Food, followed by Up Down Strange Charm in 2020. Her third album, Infinity Plus One was released in 2023, a buoyant collection of instrumental electronic pieces, varying from uplifting ambient soundscapes to downtempo vibes and filled with warm synths, guitars, vintage keys and field-recorded samples. Jen's fourth LP, Echo the Field (2024) is a meditative, minimalist work comprised of ambient and downtempo tracks, inspired by time spent in the desert. Her 5th LP, Provincial Park (2025) is an experimental, melodic ambient/IDM meditation on the Canadian wilderness. Buildings and Food's albums have received glowing reviews and enjoyed multiple chart appearances in Canada and the U.S., earning spots on several Best of Year lists. NEW Companion EP to Provincial Park , Provincial Park VIP Mixes (Oct 2025) reworks four of the album's ambient pieces as ambient house/IDM tracks.
