Biography & Metadata

Sugarfoot Stomp is the debut album by The Candy Shop Boys, the quintet that played over 150 shows a year for New York's burlesque community from 2009 to about 2017: home base at the Duane Park supper club, a weekly gig at the Rum House in Times Square, the Slipper Room, the Manderley Bar at Sleep No More, and countless nights backing Murray Hill. Recorded over two January nights at Tedesco Studios in 2013, the sessions sat on a hard drive for thirteen years. BYNK Records releases all twenty-one tracks, newly remixed and remastered, on October 30, 2026. The repertoire is a century of songs that said what couldn't be said: viper songs, Cotton Club material, dealer songs and double entendre, next to The Doors, The Beatles, and Prince played in the same spirit. Vocalist Sophia Urista, who later turned the chairs on NBC's The Voice singing "Come Together," fronts ten tracks, with Scott Tixier on violin, Matt Parker on tenor saxophone, Jesse Elder on piano and most of the arrangements, Kenball Zwerin on bass, and Arthur Vint on drums. The band is heard and seen in the film John Wick, where their "Evil Man Blues" appears on the Official Motion Picture Soundtrack.
