Cézanne

Cézanne creates Cinematic Soul: a genre she coined to name a practice that moves beyond music into a multidisciplinary world of sound, storytelling, ritual, and visual expression. Her music is a blend of neo-soul, folk and jazz, exploring self-reflection, wonder, belonging, and a deeper relationship with the living earth. Her debut album Sunflower Child is a journey into self-compassion and the inner child, exploring what it means to unlearn, soften, and reconnect with parts of ourselves we have forgotten. Around the album, she developed a theatrical multi-sensory live experience, weaving together music, scent, visuals, and storytelling into an immersive world. Following a lifelong fascination with Japan, Cézanne spent three months there on an artist residency exploring spirituality in everyday life. While learning about Yokai, Shinto and Buddhist traditions, she spent time in local communities, connecting with musicians, artists, monks, dancers and more-than-human life, immersing herself in how attention, care, ritual, and relationship with the earth are woven into daily existence. During the residency she created experimental multidisciplinary performances, collaborated with Japanese musicians, filmed new visual work, and wrote a new body of songs. Throughout the coming year, Cézanne will release music from this period, including collaborations with Japanese artists, alongside films and stories that emerged from her time in Japan.
