Biography & Metadata

There’s a kind of music that haunts you like the memory of a place you’ve never been, yet feel a deep ache for. Jamey Foxton makes that music. It all began in Memphis. Foxton walked into the legendary Sun Studio, home to Elvis and Cash, and recorded You Rang My Bell, a doo-wop track that might have wandered in from an old high school prom night. Returning to Australia, there’s a reason each release has earned high-rotation across the nation: Foxton can tell a story. Since then, he’s headlined Oxford Art Factory, The Vanguard, played festivals like Dashville & Meatstock, shared bills with C.W. Stoneking, Flight Facilities, and just for fun, sold out a cinema for his red-carpet album premiere – but he couldn’t have written what came next. Early this year, Foxton sat down to play some old gospel songs in his mother's backyard with his girlfriend, Lucy Sugerman. They filmed a couple with no idea they’d just caught lightning in a bottle. This World Is Not My Home went on to garner millions of views and the duo continued to make old gospel go viral over and over, before even releasing a song. Just like that, The Gospel Project was born. Within months, Foxton & Sugerman surpassed 80M views, grew a following of over 500k and swiftly sold out their first live show in Sydney. With a gospel album and tour on the way, Foxton continues to weave an unforgettable thread of rock'n'roll, country, blues and gospel, just like the greats before him. “Timeless sound” - Sierra Ferrell
