Biography & Metadata

East Forest is the project of composer and producer Krishna-Trevor Oswalt. Since 2008 his "lush" (Rolling Stone) and "blissful" (NPR) music has moved between ambient, neoclassical, electronic, and experimental sound. Over 30 albums have followed, with releases appearing on Domino, Ghostly, Mercury KX, Universal/Decca, and Bright Antenna, with collaborations spanning Ram Dass, Jon Hopkins, Kishi Bashi, Max Cooper, Laraaji, Nick Mulvey, Peter Broderick, ANNA, and Marieme. "Sit Around the Fire," with Jon Hopkins and Ram Dass, was named one of NPR's Top Songs of 2021. In 2019 he released Music for Mushrooms, a five-hour album written to accompany a full psilocybin session. It became a feature documentary of the same name in 2024, playing theatrically in over 100 markets. His music is used in active research at UCSF, and he has composed for Google, Johns Hopkins, and Wavepaths. His latest album, The Invitation, As We Gathered, collects live recordings from ceremony concerts around the world. He is a faculty member at the Esalen Institute.
