Biography & Metadata

Over the past 25 years Owen has been a singer songwriter, musician, producer and performer. Often referred to as “The Irish Reggae Guy”. Owen released his full length roots reggae album “The Dawning” in 2014. He resided in Hamburg city for the best part of a decade gigging regularly on the shady streets of the Reeperbahn to finance his studio recording time. It was during the recording of “The Dawning” in Rooted Music Studio, that he crossed paths with Rudy Valentino. Initially brought in as a session guitarist, Rudy took the reins as producer, bringing his wealth of experience and knowledge from his time working with legendary artists in Jamaica such as Toots and the Maytels, Kymani Marley and Tarrus Reily to mention but a few. The pair formed a great rapport with each other and have since performed together in many reggae / ska events and festivals in Germany such as Reggae Jam and Gracy’s Bash. They collaborated on many song compositions and continue to do so and have become regulars at the Irish International Ska and Reggae festival in the band Owen Casey and the Vibe Tribe. In 2016 the musical style slightly changed tack. It had been a great ambition of Owen to integrate traditional Irish music with roots reggae, the next album will feature a unique blend of tribal Celtic melodies with hard hitting root music. It’s the Caribbean Pearl meets the Atlantic Emerald. The Album will showcase this new and unique musical niche that the artist brands “Celtic Roots Reggae”
