Biography & Metadata

Apollo Ray is the new project from multi instrumentalist Louis Pavlo. Using the pseudonym of his middle name, he has embarked on a journey through a deeply personal connection with music and waveforms, touching on concepts of growth, a quest for the unknown, and the minuscule and vast in the universe. His debut album 'In Orbit' is a lo-fi, dream pop, electronic and ultimately cinematic journey, drawing influence from The Smile, Stereolab, Brian Wilson's Pet Sounds and David Lynch and Angelo Badalamenti's Twin Peaks. Apollo Ray performs both solo and with a live band, including members Adam Johnson (SKYWYTCH, Jouis) Joe Woodham (Jouis), Leonie Evans (Rae) and Liam Lancia (Syd Arthur). "melody-infused, psychedelic electronica that recalls the “Pet Sounds on a laptop” pop collages of early Caribou, Jagwar Ma and Tory Y Moi. It walks the line between experimentation and accessibility, making it an ultimately rewarding listen” - Shindig! Magazine ‘(In Orbit) is a chilled bedroom pop lie-in, tuneful and soft-touched with musical whimsy. Time has been spent on it which pays off, its melodic musical layers, reverb-misted, and coming on like long-lost old TV themes, fused with a sound somewhere between Eyes of Others and Holland-era Beach Boys’ - The Arts Desk
