Biography & Metadata

Music; fashion; art; comedy; culture—whatever the discipline, Ian Isiah devours. Whether he’s crafting the creative worlds of brands like Telfar and Hood By Air; lending his lifting voice (and multi-octave range) to the likes of Blood Orange, and Chromeo. MCing for a packed warehouse rave over a sickening backbeat; or singing in church every Sunday as he’s done since before he could walk—Isiah tears into every project with the precision and passion of a truly limitless artist. The sexy, smooth precision of his first two records—2018’s Shugga Sextape (Vol. 1) and 2020’s AUNTIE—captured the ears of tastemaking publications like Vogue, The FADER and Pitchfork. But for him, it was always bigger than accolades or appearances—as he shares: "Whenever I get a musical project together, it's always a tribute—to the ones that I studied, and a kiss on the cheek to my inner child." In line with that motto, Isiah’s next EP Cinderfella is both a left-turn and a return to form. The raucous and personal love letter to pop music finds Isiah centered in two key parts of his identity— a fierce Black homosexual, and brilliant inner child class clown—while taking new techniques and styles in thrilling stride. This lifelong performer wasn’t just born to do this—he’s showing up and proving himself every day.
