Biography & Metadata

Nkosikhona Russell Zuma, known as Russell Zuma, is a South African Singer & Songwriter. Born and raised in Durban, KZN. He began his musical career by being a back up singer for Lucky Mngadi (Lucky & Friends Gospel Choir) & went on to further his musical knowledge at Bet Centre under the tutelage of Xolisa Dlamini (Vocals), Sfaniso Bophela (Music business) & the late Theo Bophela (Music Theory). He was later chosen to be the lead vocalist for BET Centre school band, performing at places such as Playhouse & DUT. Russell Zuma was introduced to house music by his childhood friend and business partner Mzamo (Mzet) Ndaba who was a DJ at that time. He then went on to make a song with DJ Museri "iinkomo" which later caught the attention of Bongani Dlamini (DJ Bongz). He later met Gugulethu Ngxabi (Gifford) and Mapheelle Mongali (Suppressor) they formed a Band called "Groove Jam", he also worked with the likes of Spin Worx and Brewed Souls under House Africa, he also worked with the legendary DJ Kabila on Music Will Save the Day album. He then met George Lesley & released his debut Single "Ishumi Leminyaka" with him, he later worked with him again on Gaba Cannal’s hit song "Healer Ntliziyo Yami" on which he was featured. He's also featured on the hit song "Emaxhoseni" by DJ Stax, and on "Woza Moya" by Artwork Sounds. Russell Zuma is Currently working with Abidoza and Kabza De Small on their upcoming projects.
