Biography & Metadata

Aran Prog Project was born in 2018 from the unquiet mind of Italian bassist and composer Massimiliano ‘MarFi’ Gentilini, initially as a remote collaboration project between session musicians from the progressive scene. The goal was to create experimental Progressive Metal, unafraid to blend the style with Jazz, Funk, Electronic Music, and more. These collaborations resulted in four singles, which soon became the foundation for Aran's first album, Evo – A Progressive Journey, a progressive journey through the history of the earth and human evolution. Evo was finally released in January 2022, featuring the collaboration of 20 session musicians from the international progressive scene. In 2023, the Aran project evolved into a band with permanent members based in Barcelona (Spain) making their live debut at the Totum Revolutum festival. In 2024, Aran is set to release two new singles (in September and November), the first of which will be a cover of Vola's beloved track, Straight Lines. The second single, Everything Ends, will be the first track from Aran's next album, titled WWI, dedicated to the history of the First World War.
