Biography & Metadata

sporen began with unfinished things. The first songs emerged from fragments: voice memos piling up, melodies searching for words, instrumental sketches, damaged loops and rhythmic patterns waiting for a place to land. When vocalist/songwriter Debbie Ela and producer/composer Ben Krahl aka Bensnburner started making music together, there was no concept, no deadline and no release plan - only a shared curiosity about what might happen. What followed was less a structured project than a conversation. Small details became starting points. A line written down in passing could grow into a song. A dirty synth bass could change the mood of a fragile vocal. A Pulsar-23 rhythm could pull something quiet into a more physical place. Sessions often ended with a sense of surprise - finding more than they had gone looking for. Standing side by side, slightly offset, Debbie and Ben approach songwriting from different directions. Their debut album hyacinth, out 11 September 2026 via bensnburner records, moves between intimate vocals, analogue drum machines, distorted bass sounds, Rhodes-like chords, manipulated samples and fragile pop songs.
