baozi

Between childhood memories, club music, and alternative pop, baozi turns intimate emotions into something made to dance to. A 24-year-old French singer-songwriter from Hong Kong, baozi discovered music young through violin and piano before turning to electronic production as a teenager, launching her first solo project, g y l s, at 14, now past one million Spotify streams. At 18, she moved to Paris to study design, where she met the partner and producer with whom she created baozi. After blue and Camera, her sound grew more electronic and immersive. Blending house, techno, and alternative pop, baozi crafts a sensitive, cinematic aesthetic influenced by French Touch, Billie Eilish, and Bolis Pupul. Soft vocals glide through ethereal synths, deep basslines, and driving rhythms, weaving music, visuals, and emotion together. Her debut EP, Overstepped, grew out of an introspective exchange semester in the Netherlands, exploring anxiety, dissociation, and vulnerability, followed by the reissue Over (over) stepped with new tracks and remixes. In early 2026, baozi returned to China and Hong Kong to reconnect with her childhood, the foundation for her second EP, liminal echo, on nostalgia and the transition into adulthood.
