Biography & Metadata

Sifoor, whose real name is Essombe Lionel, is an Afro rapper from Douala, Cameroon. His music embodies a cultural blend between Cameroon, Kenya, and France, infused with inspirations from Makossa, Afrobeats, and Rap to create a unique and recognizable sound. In 2017, Sifoor marked a turning point in his career by establishing the label O'Bosso Sounds & Co, officially introducing himself to the music industry. He truly solidified his artistic identity with the release of “O’Bosso Vol. 2” in 2021, an album that has accumulated more than 6.5 million streams. His emblematic tracks such as "Bogota," "20 Minutes," "Mélodie," and "An Nou Alé" featuring Matt Houston have become staples in his catalog, resonating with fans and urban music enthusiasts alike. In recent years, Sifoor has continued to expand his influence. His single “Aura” has surpassed 1 million views on YouTube, while the “JOJO Remix” of Tswala Bam has confirmed his status as a creative force in Afro-urban music. He is currently preparing his highly anticipated album “Code 237”, from which the singles “Démarrez” and “Turn Me On” have already generated strong momentum with a combined 500,000 streams. Known as the pioneer of AmaMakossa—a fusion of South African Amapiano and Cameroonian Makossa—Sifoor continues to innovate by pushing the boundaries of African music.
