Biography & Metadata

Logan Richard (pronounced re-shard) is a PEI-born-and-based songwriter, guitarist, and genre-fluid artist whose music spans pop, R&B, folk, blues, and roots-rock. A live and session player since age 12, Richard has spent more than a decade refining a blend of sharp songwriting and formidable guitar work that has made him an in-demand musician and solo artist. His 2025 album Character Traits was a breakthrough, earning Music PEI’s Album of the Year alongside Songwriter of the Year and Single of the Year honours for “The Grass Is Blue.” The record brought Richard to new audiences across Canada, including a Montreal International Jazz Festival appearance opening for Ben Harper, while his songs continued landing placements in series including Ripple, Hudson & Rex, and Mistletoe Murders. In 2026, he won his first East Coast Music Award for Solo Artist of the Year and released Character Traits (Deluxe), featuring a new duet version of “Up From Here” with Rose Cousins. Richard’s next chapter begins with the October single “Trying to Find Something,” an upbeat, driving roots-rock track produced by Joshua Van Tassel. Turning a bout of writer’s block into a wry meditation on the pressure to stay original, the song pairs Richard’s sharp writing with a loose, propulsive groove that nods to J.J. Cale and Eric Clapton. He closes out 2026 with new music before heading to Australia for Woodford and Cygnet Folk Festivals, as well as multiple dates supporting The East Pointers.
