Biography & Metadata
Former Texas and New York City native turned Angeleno Zach Webber started making industrial synth music in 2021, after a few years spent as lead singer, songwriter & electric fiddle for LA synth folk band Night Darling. His first releases did not come until 2023 after a year of sobriety and finding his roots in creative solitude in the backyard studio of a craftsman in the Hollywood Dell. Drawing on inspiration from both early punk & 2000s alternative, as well as new wave, synth pop, electronic body music, and industrial of the 80s and 90s, Brood Faye ties together very cohesively an oeuvre which had been lying dormant with Webber for decades. Having spent his adult life training as an actor in the avant-garde, experimental theatre, Shakespeare, then working in film, television, and particularly finding success narrating audiobooks, a highly stylized form of dark electro manifested, fusing the overzealous masculinity found in nü-metal and EBM and the romantic, feminine intellect of synth pop, new wave, and the cold wave revival of the late 2010s. First came 2023’s LAUGHINGSTOCK, then 2025’s The Tank, the latter produced, mixed and mastered entirely by Webber. Remixes and collaborations with contemporaries Comfort Cure, FUEDAL, Healng, and Dildox supplement a growing catalog, as well as a presence in the growing LA dark synth scene, opening for the likes of Lead into Gold, Leæther Strip, Ronnie Stone & Geneva Jacuzzi.
