Mrii

Mrii is a Toronto based DJ, producer, engineer, and creative curator whose work lives in the in between. Blending hip hop, R&B, house, amapiano, Indian classical elements, and experimental club sounds, she creates immersive sonic worlds rooted in feeling, memory, and movement rather than genre. Her approach is instinctive and emotive, guided by the belief that music is a shared language beyond borders. Raised in Brampton, Ontario, Mrii’s relationship with sound was shaped by diaspora and duality. Music became both refuge and release, a space to unlearn, rebuild, and reconnect. Since 2017, she has collaborated with artists across disciplines, producing and engineering projects from the ground up while cultivating a sound that feels lush, nostalgic, and expansive. As a DJ, Mrii is known for sets that unfold like stories, fluid, textured, and deeply intentional. In the early 2020s, she emerged as a defining presence in Toronto’s underground South Asian and global club scenes. As a co founder and host of MAAZAR, she helped shape a platform rooted in cultural expression, inclusivity, and the freedom for diasporic communities from everywhere to move with pride. Alongside MAAZAR, she has curated community driven events through initiatives like The MixDOWN and Brown N Bad, centering women and femmes of colour. Continuing to evolve as both a producer and performer, Mrii’s work remains anchored in intuition, connection, and cultural truth.
