Initial Talk

Initial Talk was born out of a passion for pop culture from the ’80s, ’90s, and ’00s. He began reworking modern hits with nostalgic production in 2015. These reworks unexpectedly crossed paths with vaporwave and synthwave culture, helping to fuel the retro remix trend on YouTube and SoundCloud alongside Tronicbox and Saint-Laurent. As a result, in late 2017, his unofficial remix of Dua Lipa's "New Rules" went viral, leading to an official release by Warner Music UK. Since then, he has provided remixes for artists such as Kylie Minogue, Sia, Erasure, Sigrid, Bananarama, Perfume Genius and others. As a side note, his mashup remixes, through which he embraces the creative freedom of being unofficial, have also been shared on social media by Janet Jackson and Paula Abdul themselves. His signature retro sound has been featured in Billboard, The Fader, The Guardian, NME, Popjustice, and added to Spotify’s official playlists—New Music Friday (US, UK, Sweden, Japan, etc.) This growing recognition has further led to collaborations with artists including Sam Sparro, Maya Vik, and Bright Light Bright Light, who share his love for nostalgia. A recent notable work is Rochelle Jordan's single "Doing It Too"(produced by Initial Talk, KLSH, and Byron The Aquarius), from her highly acclaimed album "Through The Wall." https://initialtalk.tokyo
