Biography & Metadata

Hypnogaja operates in the space where intensity and melody intersect, built around emotionally direct songwriting and the commanding presence of lead singer ShyBoy. Never tied to a single scene or era, the band has evolved through recorded releases, live performance, and sustained work across film and television, shaping a sound that balances accessibility with edge. "Sympathy is a knife," a guitar-driven recast of the Charli xcx song, is out now - taken from the upcoming expanded edition of My Dreams Have Teeth (arriving October 16), which extends the band's first full-length in over a decade with new and extended tracks. It also extends an instinct that has long shaped the catalog: a reinterpretation of Sade's "Is It a Crime?" and a cover of Eurythmics' "Here Comes the Rain Again," which has quietly accumulated millions of streams, still finding new listeners years on. The second single, "Wonderful Wonderful," a duet with UK pop star Pixie Lott, arrives September 18. The album reflects the depth of experience behind it. ShyBoy and keyboardist Nubar have composed music for film and television, including Bryan Fuller's Emmy-nominated Queer For Fear and the Lionsgate film Dust Bunny, an HBO Max number one. Guitarist Jeeve, a Grammy-winning producer, brings experience shaped by collaborations with Giorgio Moroder, Santana, and Bruno Mars. Together, those backgrounds converge in a sound precise, deliberate, and fully formed.
