dB Smith

dB Smith is the new creative alias of producer, composer, and songwriter Dave Brandwein. Launched in 2025 with a collaboration alongside Darryl “DMC” McDaniels of Run-D.M.C., the project builds on Brandwein’s recent work composing for Netflix’s “Power Moves with Shaquille O’Neal”. With new singles dropping every month through the end of the year and into 2026, dB Smith is set to showcase a versatile sound that spans funk, hip-hop, R&B, electronic, and pop. As the co-founder and frontman of Turkuaz, Dave collaborated with Jerry Harrison of Talking Heads and legendary guitarist Adrian Belew (David Bowie, Frank Zappa, King Crimson, Nine Inch Nails), while leading the band to celebrated performances at venues and festivals including Red Rocks, Bonnaroo, and The Blue Note Tokyo. That experience now fuels his forward-looking work as dB Smith, where he focuses on collaborations and productions that blur genre lines while reaching new audiences.
