Sikán

Sikán is a bassist, songwriter, and producer from Canyon Country, California. He works to tell stories from his life and his family’s history through the music he makes. As a descendent of Colombian and Cuban immigrants, Sikán incorporates Afro-Latin rhythms and melodic sensibilities into his unique style of Hip Hop and RnB music. In addition to creating original music and performing as a freelance bassist in ensembles of many genres, he also teaches music production and instrument performance to kids and adolescents in Compton, Inglewood, San Fernando, and Santa Clarita. He is a teaching artist for the Young Musicians Foundation and Youth Orchestra Los Angeles, as well as the conductor of two ensembles in the Santa Clarita Valley Youth Orchestra. Sikán has released a jazz rap album called Jungle Rhythm under his birth name, Mark Gutierrez. He also creates kid-friendly instrumental music under the name Sadboy Froggy.
