Biography & Metadata
Music you don't just hear, you feel. That idea runs through everything Waymon Hudson makes. He's a Deaf, queer singer-songwriter who lost his hearing later in life and rebuilt how he makes music, working from vibration, skin, breath, and emotional memory instead of sound. He currently has two series. Through My Skin: In the Quiet takes songs from his debut album and removes the armor rather than the instruments: no stadium build, no hall reverb, nothing standing between the voice and the listener. Raw, emotional, and deeply intimate. It opened with Read My Lips (Acoustic Version), his most defiant song with the armor off, then Stay Through the Storm (Acoustic Version), a love song for whoever stayed and didn't try to fix it. Sessions from the Velvet Boot brings songs from his original musical, Speakeasy, to listeners as intimate live performances. The current release, "Cracked Bottles, Broken Hearts (Live)," opens that series: the show's Act Two company number, usually carried by a whole ensemble, stripped to one voice and a piano. His debut album Through My Skin is out now, the full-production home these versions come from, a sensual, emotionally charged move through desire, heartbreak, power, and self-reclamation. Unapologetically queer and deeply embodied, his work is an invitation to stop just listening, and start feeling.
