Leo Brenin

Born Unathi Leo Roqo on May 22, 2000, Leo Brenin is a South African singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer whose soulful sound blends R&B, soul, and contemporary trap influences (the origins of 'Xhosatrapsoul.') He hails from Gqeberha and has become known locally and beyond for his thoughtful lyrics, evocative vocals, and a musical presence that bridges intimate storytelling with strong sonic textures. From a young age, Leo gravitated toward performance and rhythm. He led worship as a teenager and was a key figure in the Lawson Brown Steelband, where he combined dramatic, theatrical movement with musicality — an early sign of his flair for combining showmanship with emotional depth and spirituality. Beyond the studio, Leo is more than a musician: he’s a mentor, a qualified facilitator and someone deeply connected to his community and environment (surfing, youth development, are part of what inspires him).
