Biography & Metadata

re:fraction is a Dub Techno project by Gustav Sandstedt, built on hardware sessions and live recordings. Following a decade of ambient drone as Fähund, re:fraction launched in 2021 to explore hardware-based Dub Techno, blending rhythmic experimentation with analog warmth and digital innovation. The music reshapes classic structures using synthesis, effects, and live processing, layering frequency shifts, delays, and spatial audio into immersive soundscapes. This approach merges technical precision with artistic instinct, pushing electronic music forward while honoring its roots. Since 2022, re:fraction has released a series of albums and EPs under Sound-driven Society Rec: Linear Perspective and Parallel Directions (2022), Quantum Mechanics and Angular Momentum (2023), the collaborative Rotational Extraction (with Dom Dumoulin, 2023), Cryptographic Algorithms and The Solaris Remixes (2024), and Xanadu Terrain and Cluster Merge (2025). Each release reflects a deep dive into science, technology, and sound, offering a hypnotic, evolving listening experience—all written, produced, and mastered by Gustav Sandstedt.
