Biography & Metadata

Kazu Osumi is a Vietnamese-American singer-songwriter based in Southern California. Her music draws from alternative rock, pop, soul, and electronic music, combining acoustic instruments, strings, synthesizers, and layered arrangements. Her songs often begin with a personal thought or experience and grow into reflections on love, memory, identity, and the world around us. Moving between quiet, intimate moments and more elaborate arrangements, Osumi follows wherever a song takes her rather than staying within a particular genre. Her earlier releases, including “Fallen Stars” and “Times of Love,” explore the passing of time, the things we hold onto, and the things we eventually have to let go. Her latest single, “Chariots,” takes a more confrontational turn, responding to political and social divisions in America. Built around a driving, soul-influenced groove, the song brings together acoustic guitar, strings, and a powerful rock chorus. For Osumi, songwriting is a way of making sense of life and finding connection through experiences that might otherwise leave us feeling alone. She hopes her music gives listeners something to recognize in themselves, and perhaps a little hope along the way.
