Biography & Metadata
Andrew Small has built a reputation as a highly respected drummer, musical director and producer trusted by the likes of Kylie, Massive Attack and Il Divo. In a successful career he has appeared on thousands of stages across six continents to combined audiences of millions. Small belongs in a select group of session musicians who have managed to not only sustain a high level career but also deliver solo material that matches the production values of the diverse artists they have performed with. In creating his debut album ‘What Happens Now?’ the London born musician firmly flexed his compositional and production muscles. Combining jazz, Afro-Cuban, neo-soul, gospel and orchestral influences, the eclectic collection of original tracks led ‘Jazz Journal’ to describe the project as “superbly played, dynamically arranged, fully engaging jazz-funk compositions”. For this recording, Small assembled a group of exceptional musicians from the UK session scene and beyond, including guest appearances by US sax men Steve Cole and Euge Groove. Small’s eagerly anticipated second album ‘Monday Roast’ builds on the musically expansive blueprint of his debut offering with a few additional twists and turns. The first single from the new project is called ‘Better Way’ and arrives June 2021. https://www.andrewsmall.net
