Wello Payne

Wello Payne is the musical identity of Jamaican-born, New-York-based singer, songwriter, lyricist, producer, and arranger Wayne Anderson. Raised in Kingston, he developed an eclectic musical ear from the island's diverse radio landscape, inspiring a sound that blends soul, R&B, reggae, jazz, blues, neo-soul, dance, and other contemporary influences. A storyteller first, Payne usually writes the lyrics before the music, believing every song should take listeners on an emotional journey. While many of his songs explore love and relationships, his catalog also reflects personal experiences, faith, resilience, and social commentary. Payne openly embraces generative AI as a creative tool—particularly in arranging and instrumentation—while keeping authentic songwriting at the center of his work. Whether singing in his warm baritone or producing other voices, his mission is simple: tell great stories through unforgettable songs.
