Biography & Metadata
Known for his fusion of atmospheric-post-rock with electronic and chamber music, New Zealand composer Rhian Sheehan has released 6 albums and 3 EPs on Loop Recordings, Darla (US), Extreme Music (US), Preco (Japan). His 2013 release Stories from Elsewhere received much praise; renowned reviewer John Diliberto (Echoes) calling it “a modern ambient chamber music masterpiece of quietly epic dimensions”. His 2018 album A Quiet Divide debuted at no.2 on the NZ Album Charts. His work as a screen & media composer is diverse, actively writing scores for a variety of film, TV, documentary, advertising, multi-media exhibits, Theme Park rides, and Planetarium show projects around the world. His music has featured on Top Gear (UK), Cunk on Earth, Silicon Valley, BBC Horizon, CNN, National Geographic & Discovery Channel, History Channel, America’s Got Talent, and has written music featured during The US Super Bowl, and The Academy Awards. He's also know for his work writing orchestral scores for Planetarium 360° Full-dome digital shows, including popular shows CapCom Go! The Apollo Story, We Are Astronomers, We Are Aliens and We Are Stars, as well as Back To The Moon For Good, narrated by Tim Allen (Toy Story), which is one of the most popular and watched Planetarium Dome shows ever made; having screened in over 450 Planetariums across the world. 2025 sees him release a new collaborative album with Arli Liberman. Immaru & Sentio are the first singles.
