Debuting in 2013 with the track "Memories Back Then," Hustle Gang is a loose collective based around rapper T.I.'s Grand Hustle Records company. The name of the group first appeared on the posse cut "Hustle Gang," which was featured on the 2012 London Boy mixtape from Grand Hustle artist Chip. It became an official project in early 2013 when T.I., B.o.B, Kendrick Lamar, and Kris Stephens teamed for the Hustle Gang single "Memories Back Then." The G.D.O.D (Get Dough or Die) mixtape followed that same year. Additional tapes G.D.O.D. 2 and H.G.O.E (Hustle Gang Over Everythang) surfaced during the next few years.
