Ella Hooper

With magnetic stage presence, dynamic vocals and unmistakable offbeat charm, Ella Hooper is one of Australia’s most beloved and unpredictable performers. As frontwoman of rock phenomenon Killing Heidi, Ella became the first woman and youngest-ever recipient of APRA’s Songwriter of the Year award and has a swag of ARIA Awards to her name. A full-spectrum entertainer, she’s also a familiar face on Australian TV and radio, proving her mettle on iconic shows like Spicks and Specks & RocKwiz, plus an award winning turn as a band mentor in music vs disability docuseries, HEADLiNERS. Now firmly in her solo era, Ella has embraced a rich country/Americana sound infused with heart, humour and a distinctly regional Australian flavour. As a proud country kid hailing from Violet Town, a tiny hamlet thoroughly girt by bush, her forays into twang fit like a glove. Her acclaimed 2023 album Small Town Temple debuted at No.1 on the Country Chart and earned an Australian Music Prize nomination, while brand-new Nashville-recorded offering ‘Overnight Success’ is packed with warmth, wit and the frankness Ella is known for. With a recent #1 debut on the ARIA Country charts, ‘Overnight Success’ sees Hooper coming into her own as a producer, singer and story teller. The title itself - a wink to her 30 year career and her evergreen, ever experimental approach to it... Now splitting her time between Nashville, Melbourne and country Victoria, international horizons are next for Hooper.
